Date: Saturday, August 14, 2010 At 08:00 AM
Duration: 10 Hours

Date set for 2nd Annual Douglas Lake Swim-a-thon to benefit Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center and Dandridge Food Pantry.

The Inaugural Douglas Lake Swimathon held last August was a huge success; thank you for your support. Numerous volunteers, sponsors, and 36 swimmers raised nearly $6400 for two charities that serve Jefferson County – Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center and the Dandridge Ministerial Association Food Pantry. The mission of Swimathon is to have fun, honor God, and serve others doing something unusual to have a positive impact in our community.

We are beginning preparations for Swimathon 2010. It is with great enthusiasm that we invite you to come and learn more about the 2nd Annual Swimathon and the Inaugural Swimathon Gala on Douglas Lake.

The 2nd Annual Swimathon is a 2-mile individual or relay swim and will be held on Saturday, August 14th. It is a USA Triathalon sanctioned event.

The Inaugural Swimathon Gala, "SUNSET CELEBRATION AT THE POINT," is a "Fun"raiser and will feature food by Angelos at the Point, live music by Soul Connection, a live auction, and opportunities for fellowship. Mark your calendars for Friday, July 23, 2010.

Both events will be held at the Point Marina on beautiful Douglas Lake and all monies raised will be donated to the charities.

As with any event, Swimathon 2010 requires a significant amount of community support in order to make it a success. We are very fortunate to have the support of the businesses and community members in Jefferson County.

Volunteers and participants needed! Some of the skills you might bring to the team: organizational, sponsorship, safety, boating, swimming, networking, just to name a few. Stay tuned for complete details at www.douglaslake.us in May or on the I LOVE DANDRIDGE Facebook Group Wall.
